The Mastercard® Automated Billing Updater (ABU) is a service designed to help ensure uninterrupted payment processing by securely updating card-on-file information with participating merchants whenever a new debit card is issued due to expiration, loss, theft, or account changes. This service reduces the risk of declined transactions, providing convenience and minimizing payment disruptions for recurring charges and stored payment credentials.
At GreenFi, only your physical card is enrolled in this program. You may want to consider using your virtual card when shopping and setting up payment with billers and merchants online, as your virtual card is not part of the ABU program. Only save your card information with merchants you know and trust. When checking out online, look for a box that offers to “save card details” and uncheck the box if you do not wish for the merchant to be able to automatically re-bill you for future transactions. If you no longer wish to be billed by a merchant, review and follow their cancellation instructions, and remove any saved billing information.
You may request to opt out of the ABU program for your physical card. By opting out of the ABU program, you acknowledge that your updated physical card information will no longer be automatically shared with merchants who utilize this service. This may result in declined transactions if your card details change and are not manually updated with each merchant. Please note that after you opt out, if you elect to save and update your card information via a merchant website, you may re-enroll your account in this program.
To opt out of the ABU program, click this link to complete an electronic form. Once completed, our team will remove your card from the ABU service and send you a confirmation email.
